PR Manager
London | Hybrid Working
My client is a leading international law firm with an excellent reputation, a strong market position and ambitious growth plans. Recognised for its collaborative culture and long-term approach to client relationships, the firm has continued to invest in its Communications and Corporate Affairs function, creating a highly visible opportunity for an experienced PR professional to play a key role in shaping the firm's external profile.
Reporting to the Director of Communications & Corporate Affairs, this PR Manager role sits at the heart of the business, supporting a range of corporate, transactional and real estate practice areas. It offers the opportunity to work directly with partners and senior leadership, influence communications activity across strategically important parts of the firm and become a trusted voice within a well-established and highly regarded team.
This is not a role focused solely on execution. It would suit someone who enjoys building relationships, identifying opportunities, influencing stakeholders and taking ownership of programmes from concept through to delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Lead PR and media relations activity across corporate, transactional and real estate-focused practice areas
- Build strong relationships with partners and senior stakeholders across the business
- Identify opportunities to raise the profile of the firm's people, expertise and client work through media engagement and thought leadership activity
- Develop and deliver communications plans that support the growth ambitions of key practice groups
- Work directly with partners on messaging, media opportunities and reputation-building initiatives
- Draft and oversee a range of external communications materials, including press releases, media commentary, briefing documents and corporate announcements
- Support wider corporate communications activity across the firm
- Work closely with colleagues across marketing, business development, digital and internal communications to deliver joined-up campaigns
- Manage relationships with external PR agencies and ensure activity is aligned to business priorities
- Monitor performance and use insight to refine future communications activity
- Support reputation and issues management activity where required
- The successful candidate will be given significant autonomy and direct access to senior stakeholders. The environment is supportive but not heavily managed, making this an excellent opportunity for somebody who enjoys taking ownership, building credibility and driving activity forward independently.
Person specification
- Experience within PR, communications, corporate affairs or media relations
- Background gained within legal, professional services, consultancy, real estate, financial services or another partnership-led environment
- Experience managing senior stakeholders and building trusted relationships
- Strong writing, media relations and content development skills
- Commercial awareness and an interest in understanding how communications supports wider business growth
- Confidence operating independently and managing competing priorities
- Strong judgement and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments
- Experience working with external agencies or suppliers would be beneficial
- Legal sector experience is advantageous but not essential
The successful candidate will be confident operating in a partner-led environment and capable of building credibility quickly with senior stakeholders. They will be proactive, curious and comfortable challenging constructively where required. Just as importantly, they will enjoy working collaboratively and contributing to a high-performing team culture.
For candidates currently working outside the legal sector, my client is open to considering strong professional services communications professionals who can demonstrate commercial awareness, stakeholder management capability and the ability to learn quickly.
In return, this role offers excellent visibility, close access to decision-makers, a supportive leadership team, genuine flexibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution within a growing and highly respected international firm.
