Business Development Manager – Litigation & Disputes

Looking for a strategic BD role where you'll be working hand in hand with highly engaged partners rather than spending your time churning out pitches?

Join one of the leading global law firms who are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to help shape the future direction of its London Litigation & Disputes practice. Covering areas including Commercial Litigation, White Collar, Competition and International Arbitration, this is a highly visible role with genuine influence.

What makes this opportunity different?

The partner group is committed to business development and understands its importance. They are looking for an experienced BD professional who can bring structure, ideas and strategic direction, helping the team identify opportunities, strengthen client relationships and drive growth. The focus is on trusted partnership and long-term planning, not simply producing reactive pitch materials. This positioning is your value-add description based on the brief you've provided rather than a claim from the document.

Key responsibilities:

  • Partner with practice leadership to develop and execute business development strategy
  • Drive client development, retention and cross-selling initiatives
  • Work directly with partners on personal BD plans and market positioning
  • Deliver market analysis and commercial insight to identify growth opportunities
  • Lead directory and awards submissions
  • Oversee thought leadership, events and profile-raising activity
  • Support associate business development training and capability building
  • Collaborate with international teams on global client initiatives and campaigns

You'll need:

  • Strong legal or professional services BD experience
  • A strategic mindset with the confidence to challenge and influence senior stakeholders
  • Experience developing client growth and market engagement plans
  • Excellent project management and relationship-building skills
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to driving opportunities

This role would suit a Senior Executive ready to step up or an established Manager who enjoys being embedded within a practice group, influencing strategy, working closely with partners and helping shape the direction of a high-performing litigation team rather than being solely focused on pitch delivery
