Bid Manager – 12 Month FTC (Maternity Cover)
Hybrid | Birmingham, Exeter, Leeds, London, Manchester or Winchester

Looking for a hands-on bids role where you’ll actually shape winning work, not just coordinate it?

This is a 12-month FTC with a well-established, growing UK Top 100 law firm known for its strength in the health, social care and public sectors. The firm has a strong reputation for high-quality work, a collaborative culture, and a genuinely supportive working environment.

Why this role?

  • Direct exposure to partners and senior stakeholders – real influence on win strategy
  • Strong, collaborative bids team with a well-regarded internal reputation
  • High-value, complex bids where quality output is recognised and valued
  • Supportive culture with a strong focus on work-life balance
  • Opportunity to build your profile across the firm
  • The role
  • You’ll lead a portfolio of bids end-to-end — from kick-off through to submission and presentation — working closely with partners to develop compelling propositions.
  • Key focus areas:
  • Leading bid kick-offs and driving content across stakeholders
  • Owning the full bid process under tight deadlines
  • Drafting and editing high-quality, persuasive content (not just managing input)
  • Shaping win themes and messaging with partners
  • Preparing pitch materials and supporting rehearsals
  • Managing bid libraries, best practice and processes
  • Running win/loss reviews and improving future performance
  • This is a fast-paced environment – you’ll be comfortable managing multiple bids at once and working closely with senior stakeholders.

What they’re looking for

  • 5+ years’ bids experience, managing your own pipeline
  • Strong writing skills – able to create and refine content
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders / partners
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of what wins work
  • Confident managing deadlines and competing priorities
  • Strong project management and attention to detail
  • Desirable:
  • Public sector bids experience
  • Professional services or legal background
  • Exposure to bid design / presentation tools

The team

You’ll join a well-established BD & Marketing function (c.18 people), including a dedicated bids team of 4, with additional support across the wider team.
