This role requires collaboration with third-party advisers and local finance managers to meet all tax compliance requirements across Continental Europe and Ireland.
The Senior Tax Manager will lead a small team to deliver efficient tax compliance, managing and mentoring the Tax Manager. Additionally, the role involves working closely with senior tax and finance leadership to monitor and manage the firm’s tax risk and governance, aligning with the firm's tax policy, and implementing assurance checks, policy updates, and rollouts. Responsibility also includes developing the Tax department’s technology roadmap by engaging with third-party advisers, collaborating with internal teams, and identifying quick-win opportunities. The Senior Tax Manager will collaborate with the Head of Global Mobility to assess tax risks, including permanent establishment and local payroll reporting, associated with remote work and globally mobile employees. Further responsibilities include improving VAT processes, engaging in tax projects that align with the firm’s strategic goals, reviewing communications with tax authorities, assessing the impact of new tax legislation, and implementing necessary measures. The role also involves overseeing the timely maintenance of transfer pricing documentation, including the annual Country by Country Reporting and organizational structure updates, as well as reviewing the firm’s compliance with BEPS Pillar 2 requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess strong tax technical skills, especially regarding the unique challenges faced by multinational law firms, along with a keen analytical ability to address complex tax issues and manage large datasets. They should have experience in team management, demonstrating an ability to develop and mentor key team members, effectively delegate tasks, review the work of others, and ensure that team deadlines are consistently met. Excellent communication skills are essential, as this role requires the ability to explain complex technical tax matters clearly, both verbally and in writing, to finance colleagues, senior management, partners, and external advisers.
