Senior Practice Manager

A senior strategic and operational role supporting a Head Partner within a major practice group of a leading law firm. The focus of this exciting opportunity is on driving delivery of the business plan, improving performance visibility, and freeing up senior leadership to focus on clients and growth.

This is a generalist practice management role, working alongside specialist functions (Finance, BD, Talent, IT, Risk), with exposure to partners, lawyers and senior business services leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and drive delivery of the practice group business plan, adapting to changing priorities
  • Translate strategy into clear, actionable plans across practice areas
  • Lead and deliver strategic initiatives and projects outside day‑to‑day BAU
  • Prepare high‑quality management and Board‑level reporting using data and insight
  • Monitor performance, identify risks and opportunities, and support corrective action where needed
  • Act as a trusted adviser to the Head Partner on priorities, objectives and communications
  • Support adoption of legal tech and AI to improve workflow, reporting and service delivery
  • Work closely with Finance, BD, Talent and IT to ensure joined‑up execution

Skills & Experience

  • Strong commercial awareness within legal or professional services
  • Experienced working with senior partners or leadership teams
  • Confident managing complex, multi‑stakeholder projects
  • Comfortable using data, insight and reporting to influence decisions
  • Pragmatic, solutions‑focused and able to operate at pace
  • Interest in innovation, legal tech and AI‑enabled ways of working
