Totum Partners are working with a leading law firm to recruit a Senior Lead Cashier based in their Accounts department. Reporting to the Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration, this is a senior, hands-on leadership role overseeing the legal cashiering function with a focus on client transactions and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing all accounts operations, ensuring full compliance with SRA Accounts Rules
- Reporting any breaches promptly to the COFA and supporting policy and process improvements
- Managing the team mailbox, delegating tasks, and ensuring timely query responses
- Supervising NatWest Bankline usage in line with compliance standards
- Maintaining the charities register and securing necessary Undertakings
- Handling complex matters such as residual balances, charity donations, and unclaimed client funds over £500
- Conducting monthly interest reviews and notifying COFA of balances over £1,000
- Managing the cashroom portal and ensuring unclaimed funds are returned as per SRA regulations
- Supporting the billing process, including complex bills and disbursements
- Overseeing reconciliations, reporting, and month-end financial processes
- Setting up and authorising payments on Bankline according to firm policy
- Conducting quarterly team reviews and providing ongoing training and mentoring
- Supporting fee earners with training and finance queries
- Leading the annual SRA client account audit preparation and coordination
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in a senior cashiering or legal finance role within a law firm
- Strong knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules and regulatory compliance
- Hands-on leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop a team
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Experience with NatWest Bankline and charity account management is preferre
