A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Resource Manager to join a leading international law firm as their first Resource Manager in their London office.

This newly created and standalone role would suit someone who is keen to establish and implement a new approach to Resource Management, managing capacity data efficiently and transparently for a specific department within the firm. Whilst this role will initially focus on the London team, it is anticipated that the role will quickly expand to support resource allocation and management for the department across all UK locations, with a long-term view of introducing a work allocation process across the firm, and building a team to support this.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring maximum effectiveness of the work allocation within the Department.
  • Monitoring resource requirements for matters, anticipating and managing periods of increased/reduced busyness.
  • Monitoring and managing holiday requests to ensure appropriate planning of holidays around periods of projected peak activity.
  • Responsibility for inputting into the design and delivery of work allocation process improvements across the Department.
  • Working closely with the Departments Senior Stakeholders to achieve the firm’s dedication to diversity, the importance of an inclusive culture and positive financial growth as well as other strategic projects.
  • Monitoring chargeable hours and ensure any under-utilised resources are flagged, providing feedback to stakeholders on any issues.

The successful candidate will need to have experience of working in a similar role within professional services and preferable experience in introducing a work allocation system and building a team. You will also need to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of IT tools and systems used for work allocation, such as Retain.
  • Ability to think critically and at pace to find ideal work solutions.
  • The ability to build strong, trust based, working relationships with colleagues (particularly at a senior level) as well as being able to lead.
  • Proven experience in working autonomously with minimal direction.
  • Ability to handle multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities to tight deadlines.
