Proposals Specialist Role
A leading global firm is seeking a dedicated Proposals Specialist to join their dynamic Business Development team. Under the direction of the Global Proposals Manager, the Proposals Specialist will lead responses for strategic pitch and panel opportunities, applying proposal best practices and processes. This role involves supporting the Partnership and the wider Business Development Team in preparing client-facing pitch opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Pitch Management: Prepare, manage, and deliver responses to panel pitches and strategic multi-jurisdiction/practice proposals. Guide partners and lawyers through the entire pitching process from kick-off meeting to submission and presentation stage.
- Portfolio Oversight: Oversee a portfolio of pitches, draft and review content from a business development perspective, advise on strategy and messaging, and facilitate meetings to coach lawyers on winning proposals.
- Content Development: Create pitch content that reflects a client-centric approach, ensuring strategies include sector/industry information, client research, and competitor analysis.
- Collaboration: Work with colleagues in Profitability, Risk, Conflicts, and DE&I Teams to ensure pitch content includes all required input and information for submission.
- Systems Implementation: Collaborate with Business Development and Marketing Technology Teams to implement and maintain pitch information in the firm’s experience management and pitch system.
- Graphic Design Coordination: Partner with Graphic Design and Word Processing teams to develop new content infographics within brand guidelines.
- Presentation Preparation: Create presentation materials for internal and external clients, draft initial content, and assist in coordinating pitch presentation rehearsals.
- Best Practices: Develop and implement pitch best practices and processes to ensure consistency and efficiency in delivery.
- Pitch Information Maintenance: Maintain pitch information, including the pre-written RFP answer bank and pitch records, in the firm’s experience management system.
- Continuous Improvement: Innovate the firm’s approach to winning business by conducting feedback calls with clients, identifying themes from feedback, and taking appropriate actions.
Skills and Competencies
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing pitches, providing advice on approach and strategy.
- Proven track record of successfully managing proposals end-to-end in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to spot conflicting information.
- Effective time and project management skills, capable of organizing and managing diverse projects with competing deadlines.
- Proactive, hands-on approach with enthusiasm and motivation.
- Strong team player, able to liaise with and motivate partners and senior lawyers.
- Understanding of how to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Knowledge or prior experience with the Foundation system is a plus.
- Experience in developing best practices and implementing new processes is ideal.
