Totum Partners are currently working with a Magic Circle law firm, helping to recruit a new Practice Manager to support two practice groups. Initially with a London focus, the two practice groups have a total revenue of c.£85m and thirty partners. The role has come about due to a restructure and growing demand for the added value the existing London office's Practice Managers create – the role replicates others in the London office’s larger practice groups.

The underlying purpose of the role is to support the Partners in the commercial decisions they make, with a view to improving profitability and reducing the amount of administration the Partners need to do. It drives the financial and operational performance of the practice groups, has ownership of the overall operational teams attached the to the practice groups and connects the strategic agenda with the operational delivery. Reporting into a Senior Practice Manager, the role will have managerial responsibility for a Secretarial Manager, Resource Manager, Finance Analyst and IT support. Over time the role could take on more global responsibility, looking after additional Partners based in international offices.

This is a senior level opportunity and requires a seasoned professional with excellent senior stakeholder management skills, a first-rate written and spoken communication style and strong commercial and financial acumen. Although the role-holder doesn’t have to be an accountant they do need to have strong accounting expertise. It is a very strong team of Practice Managers who have created a supportive, nurturing environment for their teams and each other so should provide a great place to develop your career further. Previous senior management experience in a professional services partnership environment is a prerequisite.
