Totum Partners are delighted to be working with one of the UK’s fastest growing and most ambitious large law firms in its search for an International Tax Manager. A new role created because of the increasing demand for inhouse tax expertise, this is an opportunity to join an established team with an excellent internal reputation at a senior level. The successful applicant will be part of a longer-term succession plan to eventually take over from the department’s Head of Tax.

As one of three qualified Tax Managers looking after the partner and partnership affairs of a firm of approximately 300 partners this is a busy, varied role regularly mixing hands-on and strategic responsibilities. The International Tax Manager has responsibility for overseeing the direct tax compliance process across the worldwide group outside the UK, (including LLPs and companies) and other vehicles (including partnerships and trusts), ensuring deadlines are met on time every time, through relationships with external tax advisers and local finance teams. The role holder will advise the firm on dealing with withholding tax issues, take ownership of the firm’s transfer pricing policies, manage tax reserving issues for the international partners and keep abreast of upcoming changes to tax legislation. There will be some direct and indirect management of junior members of the tax team.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of the ongoing tax issues of LLP’s and Partners and have worked in international environments. This is likely to have been gained either from working in an accountancy practice advising external clients or from working in a large partnership environment as an internal tax adviser. The seniority of the role requires someone with several years of relevant experience, ATT and / or CTA qualifications would be advantageous. Excellent communication skills are a must. The role holder will frequently be dealing with Partners and other senior stakeholders but within the firm and externally so applicants need to be comfortable and competent with this.
