Totum Partners are delighted to be working with a leading top 30 global law firm. My client is looking to appoint a Commercial Finance Manager on a 15month contract to work with the business and drive improvements in financial performance across a broad range of practice areas and assist in the longer-term strategic business planning process as well as shorter term annual budgeting process. Additionally, the Commercial Finance Manager will assist the Group Financial Controller in leading and managing the existing team of accountants within the Reporting and Analysis team, as well as work with other areas of the Finance department.
The main duties of the role include being a Strategic Business Partner via partnering with Heads of Groups, Divisional Managing Partners and Business Development Managers to update, review and implement business plans to drive the strategic direction of the divisions. This includes regularly review actual performance, develop forecasts/projections, and monitoring against business plans and budgets. You will pro-actively identify any financial issues and efficiency opportunities to enable the practice groups to undertake profit improvement initiatives. The role will also have a Financial Management scope to it such as reviewing the production of monthly management information pack including KPI's and divisional commentaries. You will lead the budgeting and planning cycles for fee earning departments whilst managing a team of junior reports supporting their overall growth and development in the Commercial Finance Team.
Applicants should be Qualified Accountants with at least 5 years PQE working within the professional sector. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to influence key business strategies and initiatives and be able to take a strategic view of the business and impact on Finance to improve and deliver a proactive service. The ideal candidate should have the ability to identify profit drivers and improvement opportunities through the analysis of P&L. You must have experience working with, and finance business partnering with, senior stakeholders across the business and have proven abilities in influencing decisions that have improved profitability through detailed analysis.
