An exciting new opportunity has arisen at a leading national law firm for an experienced HR professional to join their highly regarded HR Team as an HR Manager based in their Manchester office. This brand new role will report directly into the HR Director and will collaborate with a wide range of internal stakeholders to deliver HR projects across the firm, with input from other members of the HR team. This role will also handle Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) work and projects to support and promote an inclusive culture throughout the firm.

Main duties and responsibilities

HR Projects

  • Work closely with the HR Director and Head of HR Operations, and with other HR colleagues, to deliver projects agreed with the partnership as part of the annual HR strategy.

  • Take responsibility for leading and planning projects, ensuring hat all participating colleagues are engaged and aware of deadlines, that all milestones are achieved and that each project is delivered professionally, competently and on time.

  • Develop an internal communications strategy with the Marketing team to ensure that staff are informed promptly and regularly about firmwide initiatives and developments, and be responsible for providing regular HR information, working with HR colleagues.

  • Assist with or lead on ad hoc projects arising e.g. on Wellbeing or Compensation & Benefits, working with HR colleagues as directed.

Equality Diversity & Inclusion:

  • Forge strong relationships with the firm’s diversity committees, liaising with them regularly and communicating their views when determining annual policy and projects with the HR Director.

  • Ensure there is a data driven, measurable approach to EDI, taking responsibility for producing statistics and reports for the HR team, Management Board and diversity committees as required and as agreed with the HR Director, including working closely with the HR Analyst on data production and analysis.

  • Lead on all regulatory and external reporting requirements relating to EDI, e.g. Gender and Ethnicity Pay Gap reporting and Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) diversity reporting, producing figures with the HR Analyst in good time for annual deadlines.

  • Work with the HR and L&D teams to plan and provide regular EDI training/updates for staff across the firm.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide support on key team activities in the HR calendar e.g. the annual salary review, appraisals, promotions etc.

  • Keep up to date on employment law changes and best practice and be committed to their own personal development and learning.

  • Ensure compliance with SRA regulations and internal risk and compliance requirements as determined by the firm’s Compliance team.

  • Other ad hoc duties as required by the role, team or firm from time to time.

 

The successful candidate will ideally have prior experience of the professional services sector, law firm experience is desirable. You will have solid experience of project management, including evidence of driving initiatives forward to bring about positive change. You will also have a strong understanding of EDI best practice and regulatory requirements and experience of sourcing and organising a range of HR related training. An HR qualification, e.g. membership of CIPD is desirable.
