I am delighted to be partnering with a leading UK law firm to recruit for a newly created Head of Financial Control position. This is a high-profile leadership role with an international remit, reporting directly to the CFO. It represents a unique opportunity to shape the future of the firm’s finance function, delivering technical financial accounting leadership while ensuring full compliance with internal and external reporting standards.
The successful candidate will lead three key finance teams: accounting, cashiers and payroll. You will oversee the accurate and timely delivery of internal management accounts and statutory financial statements, while also ensuring compliance with VAT, SRA rules and other regulatory requirements. The role includes ownership of the annual audit process, direct liaison with auditors and responsibility for refining cash flow forecasting and bank reconciliation procedures.
This appointment comes at a particularly exciting time for the firm with a firm-wide Finance Transformation Programme underway. This initiative is focused on embedding financial best practice, driving greater efficiency and enhancing the quality of insight delivered to the business. The Head of Financial Control will play a central role in this transformation, contributing to the maturity and scalability of global accounting processes and financial operations.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with a strong track record of leading financial control teams. Experience with partnership accounting, partner tax and regulatory compliance is essential, along with a deep understanding of financial reporting. Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills are key, and experience in VAT compliance would be an advantage. Above all, the firm is seeking a collaborative, forward-thinking leader who takes pride in developing high-performing teams.
This is a rare opportunity to join a well-established and respected law firm at a pivotal moment in its growth.
