Totum Partners are currently working with a top 40 UK law firm in its search for a Head of Finance. Reporting into the International Finance Director and with responsibility of a team of c. 30 this is an important senior level hire for the firm. The role-holder will work alongside various senior stakeholders in the firm and by providing accurate reporting and maintaining an environment of strong financial controls, will play an important part in the continued improvements in profitability as well as the firm's ambitious growth strategy.
The Head of Finance will oversee the annual audit process, managing the team which prepares the annual financial statements and liaises annually with the auditors. The role-holder will have ownership of the global banking facilities and relationships, including managing the revolving credit facilities, overseas funding requirements and the preparation and submission of monthly management information to the banks. There is also an emphasis in the responsibilities on managing cashflow. As well as supervising the working capital and billing teams, the Head of Finance will monitor and report on debtor and WIP days, ensuring the right processes and procedures are in place and followed to make sure the firm's cashflow is as strong as possible. The Head of Finance will review the monthly European profit and loss account and various analysis, highlighting any anomalies to the Finance Director and adding commentary where necessary. The Head of Finance's team will oversea the payment of monthly partner drawings, calculate bonus payments and liaise closely with the tax team when required.
Applicants should be qualified accountants who have worked in a professional services partnership environment in senior management roles for several years. Previous exposure to managing banking relationships and firmwide cashflow are particularly sought after as are strong technical LLP financial reporting skills.
