Totum Partners are delighted to be working with a leading international law firm and assisting them with the recruitment of a Head of Commercial Finance. This role will be responsible for leading and expanding the commercial team and will collaborate with the Group Finance Director to ensure strategic alignment and deliver exceptional support to the Partnership. This involves integrating Finance Business Partnering within six global practice groups, enhancing the firm's pricing support capability, extending local support in crucial regions, ensuring adherence to pricing and credit policies, and establishing a commercial training program.

The Head of Commercial Finance oversees responsibilities related to Finance Business Partnering, including driving annual planning, budgeting, and forecasting of revenues globally, supporting practice groups in performance steering, investment appraisal, and business case compilation. Additionally, they provide financial mentoring and training, drive process improvements, and support regional office accounting resources. In the Pricing domain, responsibilities include providing training on pricing strategy, analysing pricing trends, offering administrative support for pricing tools, assisting client pitches, developing policies and guidelines, maintaining a fee arrangement database, and staying abreast of legal market pricing trends. The role also involves collaborating with various teams to enhance systems and support strategic business development.

 

The ideal candidate for this position should possess substantial experience in senior commercial finance roles, particularly within international law, accountancy, or other professional services firms. With deep knowledge in professional services, the candidate is expected to provide thought leadership to enhance commercial finance capabilities. Essential qualifications include the ability to establish the commercial function from the ground up, excellent soft skills, and gravitas. The candidate must demonstrate extensive business partnering experience with senior stakeholders, both internal and client-facing, utilizing innovative approaches to bring numbers to life and support decision-making. Leadership skills are crucial, as the candidate should have experience running commercial finance teams and fostering a culture of high performance, teamwork, and inclusion. The ideal candidate is a qualified accountant or holds an MBA, and flexibility in working hours is required.
