I am delighted to be working with a magic circle law firm and recruiting for a Group Financial Controller which is responsible for providing financial leadership, technical accounting advice and support to the Group. Responsible for preparing the group financial results, fiscal compliance and statutory requirements. The group FC will also manage the Group Audit and other technical accounting related matters for the organisation.

In this role, you will have a multifaceted set of responsibilities. Firstly, you will take ownership of delivering the group accounts consolidation, financial accounts, and ensuring compliance with related regulations. You'll also be leading the charge in overseeing the group audit process and managing global audit relationships. Staying up-to-date with technical accounting changes is crucial, as you'll be acting as the go-to technical finance expert, evaluating their impact on the group, crafting recommendation papers, and presenting these to management. Implementing these changes across the network and ensuring their adoption will be part of your purview.

Furthermore, you will be responsible for drafting and maintaining group financial policies and ensuring that all offices within the group adhere to these financial standards and procedures. Developing and implementing a robust financial control approach will be essential, encompassing appropriate financial stewardship standards, controls, reconciliations, and verification across the global business. Managing the inter-office processes, understanding transfer pricing policies, and addressing issues such as FX will fall within your domain. You will need to manage balances to ensure local office compliance and reporting requirements are met. Identifying opportunities for global finance improvements and championing these changes from inception to implementation will be a key part of your role. On a regular basis, you will be responsible for producing monthly management accounts, ensuring that all offices maintain the expected reporting standards. Preparing high-quality financial information and analysis suitable for senior management, the Board, and the Audit Committee will also be part of your duties.

You will lead and manage the Group Financial Reporting team, focusing on their development and coaching, ensuring adequate resourcing, and structuring for future flexibility while maintaining high-quality service levels. Collaboration with the finance leadership team will be essential, providing strategic input, leadership, and acting as an ambassador for the finance function globally.

The ideal candidate for this role possesses a wealth of relevant finance, commercial, and accounting experience, including a track record of thriving in a global, multi-currency business environment. They exude energy, motivation, and confidence, enabling effective communication, influence, and negotiation across all levels of the organization. Strong leadership and team management skills are essential, with a knack for empowering and training staff. This individual has a forward-thinking approach, driving value through innovative ideas and seeking external solutions to keep both their role and team up-to-date. They're hands-on when needed but can delegate effectively without compromising service excellence. Pragmatism and innovation go hand in hand, always ensuring financial integrity.
