Reporting to the Finance Director, this role will be pivotal in managing the firm's financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and providing strategic financial insights to drive growth. The Financial Controller will play a key role in overseeing the firm’s financial operations, ensuring compliance, and driving strategic financial planning. They will be responsible for preparing and managing annual financial statements, leading audits, and maintaining accounting policies. Supporting the Finance Director, they will contribute to long-term financial strategies, provide insights for mergers and acquisitions, and assist with new office integrations. The role also involves enhancing financial systems and processes, overseeing payroll, tax, and partnership matters, managing treasury functions, and supporting budgeting and forecasting. Additionally, the Financial Controller will collaborate with key stakeholders across the firm, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and contributing to the firm’s continued growth.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with experience in a law firm or professional services environment and a strong understanding of UK GAAP. Knowledge of overseas accounting standards and financial systems, particularly Elite 3E, is desirable. You should possess excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy. Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and a high level of professionalism are essential, along with a proactive, results-oriented approach to problem-solving and financial management.
