If you're currently working in a Law Firm in a Finance Manager/Financial Controller role and want to work locally (instead of commuting into London) then this could be the ideal job for you! The role offers the opportunity to progress into a Finance Director Role and Bonus potential.

  • Able to lead a team of 5.
  • Able to develop and manage effective financial control systems
  • Able to provide support to the Shareholders
  • Able to identify risk areas and create risk management, mitigation and compliance strategies
  • Excellent analytical and IT skills with the ability to identify and solve financial and operating issues
  • Commercially astute -proactive in increasing profitability
  • Able to persuade, influence and negotiate in an emotionally intelligent manner
  • Able to create financial strategies, plans, targets and budgets, driving action and success through creating achievable goals and objectives

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep up to date with SARs, train Fee Earners and support staff in SAR and ensure controls are in place to monitor compliance with SAR
  • Produce month end management accounts and year-end financial accounts for the directors and for tax purposes
  • Ensure the accounts department is sufficiently motivated, properly trained and adequately supervised to provide an efficient accounting function to the firm
  • Control expenditure by preparing budgets, reviewing actual expenditure against budget, and reviewing nominal expenses before payment
  • Review credit control against targets and supervise credit controller to ensure the firm collects unpaid accounts
  • Review levels of income against targets, and produce reports for fee earners to enable them to reach targets
  • PAYE, VAT and Corporation Tax compliance
  • Companies Act compliance – producing statutory accounts for filing at Companies House and assisting our auditors to enable them to produce an audit report to file with these accounts
