Totum Partners is delighted to be working with a leading Accountancy firm, assisting in the recruitment for a newly created Finance Director position. The role holder will report to and work closely with the CFO, playing a hands-on role in managing the firm's finances and financial strategy. 

The Finance Director will be expected to build strong relationships with key stakeholders, particularly the CFO and various department heads. They will lead and optimise the Finance team's efficiency and effectiveness, aiming to develop a high-performing team within specialised functions. Delegation and fostering collaboration within the finance team and across the organisation are crucial. This role encompasses overall control of the finance function, including statutory financial statements and annual audits. It also involves ensuring robust financial systems, overseeing budgeting processes, managing cash flow, and preparing management accounts. Regulatory compliance and partnership accounting models are part of the responsibilities, along with partner data management and capital oversight.

The Finance Director will collaborate with fee earning and business service departments, helping them manage their budgets and targets effectively. The firm is undergoing changes, including implementing a new practice management system, and expects continued growth in the next three years through technology and process improvements in financial reporting. During this transformative phase, the Finance Director will play a crucial role in managing the Finance team and working with the CFO to oversee policies related to cashflow, debt, taxation, partners' interests, borrowings and firm growth.

The ideal candidate for this position should be a qualified member of a recognized accountancy body, preferably ICAEW or ACCA, and have a minimum of five years of post-qualification experience working in a senior finance leadership role for an LLP. Qualities including commercial acumen, strong technical expertise, and the ability to be a dynamic and influential leader should all be demonstrable. A deep understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and regulatory compliance is essential, along with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective team leadership, communication abilities, and the capacity to build strong relationships with external parties are important. Being tech-savvy, having a commitment to process efficiency, and a strong focus on governance and integrity are also highly valued. The candidate should be energetic, motivated, and have experience in project management, with a mindset geared towards growth, excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. The Finance Director will be expected to regularly communicate and influence senior stakeholders such as Partners and the Management Board.
