Totum Partners is working with a leading international professional services firm to appoint a Director of Finance – Europe. This is a senior leadership role overseeing financial operations across multiple European offices and partnering closely with business and executive leadership.
The Role
Reporting to senior global and regional leadership, the Director of Finance will have full responsibility for European finance operations, including financial control, reporting, planning, treasury, tax compliance and team leadership. The role plays a critical part in strategic decision‑making and operational excellence across the region.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading day‑to‑day finance operations across multiple European offices
- Oversight of general ledger, balance sheet integrity and reconciliations
- Ownership of European budgeting, forecasting and monthly financial reporting
- Treasury and cash‑flow management, including client money oversight
- Working capital, billing and revenue control in partnership with operational teams
- Acting as Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA) where required
- Oversight of VAT returns and partnership tax reporting in multiple jurisdictions
- Driving best practice in financial controls, processes and systems
- Leading finance system implementations and enhancements
- Managing, developing and mentoring a high‑performing regional finance team
- Supporting senior management with strategic planning and special projects
About You
You will be a credible finance leader with strong experience in complex, partnership‑based environments and a track record of operating at senior stakeholder level.
Key requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (or UK equivalent) in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- 7+ years’ experience across core finance functions, including budgeting, reporting and analysis
- At least 5 years’ experience in a management role within a professional services environment (law firm experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of partnership accounting; tax experience advantageous
- Proven leadership, influencing and decision‑making capability
- Excellent communication, analytical and presentation skills
- High levels of integrity, discretion and commercial judgement
- Experience working with Elite 3E or a similar ERP system
Working Arrangements
- London‑based role
- Hybrid working model (typically three days in the office, two from home)
- Full‑time, permanent position
