Key Responsibilities
- Create standout content: Craft and refine clear, engaging copy across channels—insights, alerts, newsletters, case studies, social media—so messages land with the right audiences.
- Shape the news agenda: Research and write press releases that convey compelling narratives, ensuring key themes are communicated succinctly and effectively.
- Elevate thought leadership: Partner with legal experts to edit and polish their materials, applying the firm’s tone of voice and sharpening structure, clarity and impact.
- Plan the content pipeline: Work with Business Development Managers to build and maintain a forward schedule of sector-specific content aligned to campaign priorities.
- Run comms-led campaigns: Own the planning and delivery of communications initiatives—from concept to execution—integrating PR, digital and email to maximise reach.
- Own the comms calendar: Maintain the communications schedule in the firm’s CRM, coordinating mailings and activities so touchpoints are timely and cohesive.
- Lead proactive PR: Spot opportunities, prepare drafts (and coach subject-matter experts to do the same), and track coverage to build visibility in target media.
- Measure what matters: Use performance data to assess ROI across channels, share insights, and embed best practice to continually improve outcomes.
- Showcase achievements: Coordinate award submissions, collaborating with legal and business services teams to present compelling, well-evidenced entries.
- Support directories: Contribute to drafting and reviewing legal directory content, ensuring accuracy, consistency and strong positioning.
- Amplify internal priorities: Work alongside Internal Communications on firm-wide campaigns, ensuring external and internal messaging are aligned and mutually reinforcing.
Person Specification
- Exceptional copywriting, proofreading, and editing skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Strong research skills and a genuine interest in learning about clients, sectors, and legal concepts.
- Confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities and work calmly under pressure.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
- Flexible and willing to contribute across a busy, friendly team.
- Focused on delivering a first-class service and acting as a brand champion.
Experience
- Previous experience in a communications or marketing role within professional services.
- Demonstrable ability to write informative and engaging copy for thought leadership, PR, and social media.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders and using CRM systems.
- Strong understanding of brand and tone of voice, with experience applying these to communications.
