Totum has been instructed by an ambitious, expanding Jersey-based firm to find a new a dynamic and experienced qualified accountant to be its Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The CFO will lead the financial strategy and operations of its group which includes a law firm and a trust and corporate services business. This role is pivotal in driving the financial and strategic objectives of the organization, ensuring robust financial management, and contributing to the overall growth and development of the business.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Provide strong, innovative leadership to the Finance function, mentoring and coaching team members, and enhancing the capability of the management cadre.
  • Strategic Planning: Monitor and direct the implementation of financial aspects of strategic business plans, develop financial and tax strategies, and manage capital expenditure and budgeting processes.
  • Systems and Operations: Participate in key decisions regarding finance systems, ensure adherence to budgets, manage third-party financial functions, and oversee transaction processing systems.
  • Information Management: Oversee the provision of timely, accurate, and relevant financial information, report financial results to the Board and partners, and present financial information in an understandable form.
  • Risk Management: Understand and mitigate key financial and legal risks, construct and monitor reliable control systems, maintain appropriate insurance coverage, and ensure compliance with financial and regulatory requirements.
  • Funding: Monitor cash balances and forecasts, arrange for debt and financing, and ensure adequate funding at all times.
  • Relationship Management: Develop effective relationships with external professional service suppliers, maintain communication with tax authorities, manage key external relationships, and act as an ambassador for the brand.

 

Applicants should have proven experience in a senior financial leadership role, with a strong preference to this being within a professional services environment. They should be able to display strong business acumen and confidence in managing and influencing highly intelligent individuals. CVs should demonstrate an ability to rewrite systems and processes, with a clear and transparent profit motive and an understanding of the dynamics of technology in business transformation.
