Business Development Manager – 12 Month FTC

My client is a highly respected law firm with a dedicated Business Development & Marketing (BD&M) team, renowned for its collaborative approach and commitment to delivering exceptional support across business development, bids, marketing, communications, and events. The firm is particularly well-regarded in the Social Housing and Local Government sectors, where it acts as a trusted advisor to a diverse client base. This is a hands-on opportunity to join a high-performing team that values innovation, client relationships, and professional growth.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver strategic sector plans and propositions for Social Housing and Local Government
  • Monitor, budget, and report on performance, activity, pipeline, and revenue
  • Launch new business lines and products, delivering key messages and developing campaign calendars
  • Drive strategic campaigns and communications, including digital content and performance tracking
  • Focus on top clients through target setting and strategic action plans
  • Manage sales accounts and opportunities, including market horizon scanning and CRM updates
  • Produce financial and client account reports to analyse sector performance and advise on strategy
  • Collaborate with the bids team on client mobilisation and onboarding
  • Lead directory submissions for relevant sectors and ensure accurate representation in rankings
  • Create and oversee tactical and strategic marketing plans to support sector goals
  • Oversee production of marketing materials and thought leadership content
  • Develop and manage the sector events calendar to enhance brand visibility and generate leads
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, industry contacts, and external partners
  • Support fee earners in developing personal brands and capabilities
  • Lead monthly sector meetings and track progress against targets
  • Contribute to firm-wide BD projects and champion the use of client relationship and analytics tools
  • Supervise and develop junior members of the BD&M team

 

Person Specification:

  • Experienced BD professional from a legal or professional services background
  • Proven sector management experience and success in delivering impactful BD and marketing strategies
  • Strong understanding of BD and marketing activities
  • Project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Commercial acumen and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to build senior-level relationships and influence colleagues
  • Analytical thinking, creativity, and enthusiasm
  • Strong organisational skills, resilience, and flexibility
