Totum Partners is partnering with a leading law firm to recruit a Billing Manager. This is a great opportunity for a team leader or mentor looking to take the next step in their career.
The Billing Department oversees managing work in progress, generating and handling invoices, collecting outstanding payments, and providing the partnership with reports on WIP, billing activity, and debtor statistics.
The client operates a hybrid work model, combining office and remote work.
The ideal Billing Manager will be responsible for:
- Lead and support the Legal Billing team.
- Provide training and manage performance.
- Work with Partners, Fee Earners, PAs, and clients to resolve billing issues.
- Ensure compliance with UK VAT, SRA rules, and financial controls.
- Develop and update billing policies and procedures.
- Monitor Work In Progress (WIP).
- Support audits and reporting with finance and compliance teams.
- Improve billing processes and introduce automation.
- Provide monthly and ad hoc billing reports to senior management.
The ideal Billing Manager will have:
- Experience with legal practice management and billing systems
- Strong knowledge of UK legal billing standards, VAT, and SRA Accounts Rules.
- Exposure to international (EMEA/global) billing practices.
- Thrives in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Builds effective relationships with colleagues and clients.
