Business Development Manager – Technology, Data and IP / Digital Infrastructure & Tech Transactions 

Location: London

 

My client is a leading international law firm with a strong reputation for advising on complex, high-value transactions across the technology, data, and IP landscape. The London-based Technology, Data and IP group is known for its collaborative culture, high-profile client work, and commitment to innovation in fast-evolving sectors such as technology, telecoms, media, and life sciences.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and day-to-day BD support to the Technology, Data and IP group and the digital infrastructure/tech transactions team within the M&A practice
  • Advise and influence partners on BD activities and initiatives, including co-leading the international data protection BD community
  • Lead the creation of proposals, pitch presentations, and credentials documents, coaching partners and promoting best practice
  • Support client relationship management and targeting efforts, working closely with the central CRM team
  • Develop and deliver integrated BD campaigns, including roundtables, seminars, and sponsorships
  • Collaborate with Communications/PR to enhance the external profile of key product areas
  • Conduct client listening sessions and translate feedback into actionable insights
  • Carry out market and client research to inform planning and identify opportunities
  • Organise client events and hospitality aligned with strategic priorities and budget
  • Maintain internal communications and market intelligence flow to partners and associates
  • Ensure BD tools and materials are accurate, consistent, and up to date
  • Contribute to wider firm or departmental projects as needed

 

Person Specification:

  • Significant BD and marketing experience at Manager or Senior Executive level within professional services or relevant sectors
  • Interest in developing expertise in the global commercial, tech, and data market; prior experience is beneficial but not essential
  • Proven ability to meet business objectives within product lines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills across all levels
  • Proactive, creative, and resilient approach to BD
  • High attention to detail and strong client focus
  • Ability to inspire and support teams and fee-earners in delivering BD goals
  • Skilled at managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines under pressure
