Business Development Manager – Debt Finance
Location: London
My client is a top-tier international law firm with a market-leading Debt Finance practice. The London team is highly ranked and known for its technical excellence, commercial insight, and high-performing culture. With 19 dedicated partners and a strong international footprint, the group advises on a wide range of complex financings across the debt and private credit landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop BD strategy for the practice, partnering with senior stakeholders to drive client and market initiatives
- Collaborate with the Knowledge team and central marketing support teams
- Coordinate client targeting efforts and relationship teams, leading client-focused meetings
- Manage relationships with key clients, including client listening, presentations, and training
- Oversee market, product, and client intelligence, ensuring partners are briefed ahead of key meetings
- Advise on sponsorships and monitor marketing budget spend
- Develop BD campaigns and content, working with Communications/PR to enhance external visibility
- Prepare proposals, pitch presentations, and credentials documents for lender/bond underwriter-side work
- Maintain and update BD resources including pitch materials, accolades, brochures, and client contact trackers
- Contribute to firm-wide, departmental, and cross-practice projects
- Support and supervise BD assistants as needed
Person Specification:
- BD/marketing experience in a professional services environment, ideally at Manager level
- Strong organisational skills to manage fast-paced transactional BD
- Commercial awareness and confidence to influence senior stakeholders in a high-profile environment
- Ability to build relationships quickly and understand the group’s product offering and client base
- Proactive, collaborative, and resilient character with strong presence and credibility
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong client focus
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and balance competing priorities
- Professional, inclusive, and enthusiastic approach
- Occasional travel may be required
