My client, a leading intellectual property firm renowned for its inclusive culture and forward-thinking approach, is seeking an experienced Marketing & Business Development Manager to join their team on a fixed-term basis for 9 months, with the potential for extension. This London-based position offers the chance to shape and deliver strategic growth initiatives across multiple international offices and specialist practice groups.
About the Role
This is a hands-on managerial role, working closely with senior leadership to drive business development and marketing activities that support the firm’s ambitious growth plans. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues across London Europe and the US, ensuring that business development strategies are effectively implemented and aligned with the firm’s objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor to fee earners, providing tailored business development support across international teams.
- Partner with the Director of Marketing & Business Development to shape and execute firmwide growth strategies.
- Lead and motivate business development working groups, fostering a culture of best practice and innovation.
- Coach partners and associates on effective marketing and client development techniques.
- Develop and refine business development plans, ensuring ongoing engagement with key prospects and clients.
- Manage the end-to-end pitch process, including project coordination and content development.
- Oversee the planning and delivery of marketing campaigns, events, and digital communications.
- Drive the firm’s content marketing strategy, ensuring high-quality, targeted output.
- Take ownership of profile-raising activities, including legal directory submissions and thought leadership initiatives.
- Supervise and mentor junior team members, ensuring high standards of delivery and professional growth.
- Champion the use of CRM systems to support business development efforts.
Candidate Profile
- Substantial experience in business development and marketing within the legal, IP, or wider professional services sector.
- Demonstrable success in designing and implementing strategies that deliver measurable business results.
- Strong analytical mindset, with a focus on data-driven decision making.
- Broad expertise across the marketing mix, including digital, events, and content.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, with previous management experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Creative and commercially astute, with the ability to translate market trends into business opportunities.
- Skilled writer, comfortable managing complex pitch processes under tight deadlines.
- Collaborative, positive, and adaptable, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
